Our mother spent her final days in palliative care.

We thought we had more time.

Like many families, we had never been through palliative care before. We were learning as we went, trying to understand what was happening while caring for someone we loved.

We knew she wanted to stay at home, surrounded by family, and we did everything we could to make that happen.

What we did not understand was how quickly things could change.

We thought there would be another 3 months.

We thought there would be more time to prepare.

By the time we arranged a caregiver, she had only three weeks left.

Looking back, the hardest part was not finding a caregiver. It was knowing when to start looking for one.

No one teaches you how to recognise the signs. No one prepares you for the practical realities of caring for a loved one as their needs increase. Families are expected to make difficult decisions while carrying fear, uncertainty, exhaustion, and hope all at the same time.

We know that feeling because we have lived it.

Today, our father requires daily support for his mobility and diabetes. We are fortunate to have a caregiver we trust, but every time she takes leave, we face the same challenge many families know well: finding reliable replacement care at short notice.

Our brother is living with cancer. Most days he manages independently, but there are times when he needs to be hospitalised for procedures and treatment. Sometimes care is needed for months. Sometimes it is needed for only a few days.

Yet finding trusted help for those short periods can be just as difficult.

That belief became CareFinder.

We built CareFinder to be the platform we wish had existed when our family first began this journey — a place where families can find trusted caregivers with confidence, and where caregivers are recognised and valued for the important work they do.

We are not building CareFinder because we identified a business opportunity.

We are building it because we have sat in hospital wards, rushed to arrange care, worried about making the wrong decisions, and wondered whether we were doing enough for the people we love.

We know how overwhelming that can feel.

And we believe no family should have to face it alone.
